Which KOKUA fits my child? A size guide
The single most useful number when choosing a children's bike is not your child's age. It's their inner leg measurement. Children of the same age vary enormously in height, and KOKUA's age recommendations are calibrated for European children. Measure first, then choose.
How to measure your child's inner leg
It takes a minute and you need a book and a tape measure.
- Have your child stand with their back against a wall, barefoot or in the shoes they'll ride in, feet roughly 15 cm apart.
- Place a hardback book between their legs, spine upward, and push it up firmly against the crotch — about as firm as a saddle would be.
- Keep the book level and mark the wall at the top edge of the spine.
- Measure from the floor to that mark. That is the inner leg.
Write it down in millimetres. Every figure below is in millimetres so you can compare directly.

Reading the table
Find the row where your child's inner leg sits comfortably inside the range, not at the very top of it. A child at the top of a range will outgrow that bike within months.
If the measurement falls in the overlap between two models — and several of these ranges do overlap — the question becomes what the bike is for:
- Still learning to balance? Choose the balance bike. A child who cannot yet balance will not enjoy pedals, however well the frame fits.
- Balancing confidently already? Move to the pedal bike. Children who have ridden a balance bike usually skip stabilisers entirely and pedal away within an afternoon.
Two things worth knowing
The Jumper 14 can start smaller than you'd think
Fitted with the optional short aluminium seat post, the Jumper 14's saddle drops from 445 mm to 385 mm. That brings a bike normally recommended from age three within reach of a smaller or younger child — and it means one bike can last considerably longer instead of buying a Jumper 12 first and replacing it a year later.
The balance bike is not a toy stage to rush past
Balance is the hard part of learning to cycle; pedalling is trivial by comparison. Children who spend real time on a balance bike tend to transition to pedals faster, and without stabilisers, than children who go straight to a pedal bike. It is worth not skipping.
Still not sure?
Send us your child's inner leg measurement, their age, and whether they can already balance, and we'll tell you honestly which model fits — including if the answer is "wait six months". We would rather you buy the right bike later than the wrong one now.
